The Prime Minister of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, stated on Monday that there is a need to hold new parliamentary elections to resolve the ongoing crisis. According to her, the existing situation requires the parliament to be renewed through free and fair elections. Zourabichvili also emphasized that the central electoral management body of the country should be an independent and stable entity that has authority over all political forces.
"We must return to the will of the people through real free and fair elections, which will lead to the formation of a parliament reflecting the desires and dreams of citizens. The decision following the last presidential elections creates the prerequisites for further deepening the crisis," stated Zourabichvili.
The President of Georgia also drew attention to the fact that the country must uphold its European anti-crisis positions in the face of a complicated international situation. Zourabichvili noted that this step would be the first step towards restoring democratic institutions in Georgia, which, in turn, will lead to strengthening the country and reinforcing its positions in the international arena.
