Alexandria Tashirna, a member of the "National Movement" party, said: "We demand rapprochement with the European Union and the fight against the corruption that hinders the country's development." A number of parliament representatives also participated in the protest.
Thousands of Georgians gathered on Monday, in response to a call from opposition forces urging to improve relations with the European Union. These protesters are calling for combating corruption and strengthening democracy in the country.
"We demand fundamental reforms that restore trust between the government and the people," stated one of the protesters.
